Overview:

Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment (Pali: bodhi) under what became known as the Bodhi Tree.

For Buddhists, Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main four pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha, the other three being Kushinagar, Lumbini, and Sarnath.

Day1

Varanasi

Early morning visit Kashi Vishvanath Temple , Sankat Moochan Temple , Durga Temple and Tulsi Manas temple. Free time for shopping & visit Ganga aarti in the evening.

Day2

Varanasi – Sarnath – Bodhgaya – 250kms – 7hrs

Proceed to Bodhgaya . Enroute visit Sarnath temple – the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon, museum & Stupa . Arrive in Bodhgaya in the evening.

Day3

Bodhgaya – Gaya – Bodhgaya

Proceed to Gaya, visit Vishnupad temple – 220 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Visit Maha Bodhi tree where Gautam Buddha was enlightened to the Knowledge of Spiritual World & Lotus tank – where it is believed that Buddha spent one week. Also visit archaeological museum in Bodhgaya.

Day4

Bodgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Patna

Proceed to Nalanda . On arrival visit Nalanda University, one of the greatest learning centers in ancient India. Visit Nalanda museum . Later visit Vishwa shanti stupa at Rajgir. Later proceed to Patna.

Day5

Patna – Vaishali – Kushinagar – 260kms – 8hrs

After breakfast drive to Kushinagar . En-route visit Vaishali – located 60 kms from Patna and The Lord Buddha visited Vaishali more than once during his lifetime and announced his approaching Mahaparinirvana to the great followers he had here. Kushinagar is the place where Lord Buddha achieve salvation.On arrival at Kushinagar , check into the hotel.

Day6

Kushinagar – Sravasti – 250kms – 7hrs

After breakfast visit Kushinagar the various stupas and temples. Kushinagar is the Place where Buddha entered perfect tranquility – the state of Mahaparinirvana. Later drive to Sravasti. Saravasti , the capital of Kosala Mahajanapada , was the biggest town in the Gangetic plains during the Buddha’s lifetime. Saravasti was host to the Master for 25 years during the annual vassavasa (rain retreat) when the Sangha congregated at one place.On arrival check into the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day7

Sravasti – Lumbini – 197kms – 5hrs

Sahet Mahet , the capital of ancient kingdom of Kosla, Jetawana Gardens Buddhist temples etc. Afternoon drive Lumbini, On arrival transfer to hotel. Lumbini is the birth place of Buddha. In evening visit Buddhist temples for prayer. Overnight at hotel.

Day8

Lumbini – Kathmandu

After breakfast proceed for the sightseeing of Buddhist temple & stupas. Later transfer to the airport to catch the flight for Kathmandu. On arrival our representative will meet and assist you at the airport . Later transfer and check into the hotel. Later proceed to tour of Katmandu City including Durbar Square; This large square is the historic seat of the Nepalese Royalty. The Square, with its old temples and palaces, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the people. It is here where Kings of Nepal are crowned. Overnight at the hotel.

Day9

Kathmandu

Breakfast at the hotel. Later proceed for the sightseeing of Kathmandu including

Swoyambhunath Stupa – The stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal and its establishment is linked to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley out of a primordial lake. It is listed as a World Heritage Site.

Patan City – The ancient city of Patan, lying 5 km southeast of Kathmandu, is known as the city of fine arts. The city is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments.The diversity of the medieval culture that allowed both Hinduism and Buddhism to flourish has left a rich legacy of impressive sightseeing in this city for today’s visitors.

Day10

Kathmandu – Onwards destination

After breakfast visit Bhaktapur. Later proceed for visit The lion gate and The Golden gate. Later check out and transfer to international airport to board the flight for your onward destination.
