Overview:

Mt. Kailash, the striking peak standing in the remote south-west corner of Tibet in the Himalayan Mountains. Rising at an elevation of 6638 m (21778 ft) it is one of the highest parts of the Himalayas and serves as a source of some of the longest rivers in Asia. Known as Gang Tise or Gang Rinproche in Tibet, Mount Kailash Parvatan it is a precious and prominent symmetrical peak. Made up of black rock Mt Kailash is a wonderful diamond like shaped mountain that is surrounded by beautiful landscape which is rugged and dry.

Lake Manasarovar situated about 2000 kms from Lhasa is world’s highest freshwater lake. Mount Kailash ParvatKnown as Lake Manas Sarovar in Sanskrit and Mapham Yutso in Tibetan this huge lake with the mirror like image of snow capped mountains in its crystal clear waters is just fabulous. The lake is located at the southern foot of Mount Kailash, stretching up to 55miles (88kms) in perimeter it goes 330 feet deep and about 120 sq mi of total area. Lake Manasarovar has exceptional beauty that varies from crystal clear blue water near the shores and a deep emerald green colour at the center. There are a few monasteries on the shore of the lake and most striking of all is the ancient Chiu Gompa Monastery, which has been built right onto a steep hill.

Day1

Arrive at Kathmandu and drive to Nepalganj – 03 hours drive

Assemble at the meeting point and our representative and drive to Nepalganj which is 3 hours. Nepalganj is the gateway to the Far Western Mountain Region to Nepal. Overnight stay at Hotel. Dinner included.

Day2

Fly from Nepalganj to Simikot – 45 minutes helicopter ride 2910 m

Transfer from Hotel to airport and board your 45 minutes helicopter ride to Simikot. The flight to Simikot passes through the rough Mountains where weather often gets cloudy i.ee., the reason the flights bound to this region are early morning when the sky is clear. Overnight stay at Hotel. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Rest day for acclimatization.

The airport at Simikot has STOL capacity airport (Short take off and landing) where only small aircraft can fly with minimum capacity of 15 – 16 passengers. The expected temperature during day time -18 to 25 degree.

Day3

Airlift from Simikot to Hilsa by helicopter and drive to Taklakot (3900m) – 20 minutes helicopter ride & 30 minutes drive

After breakfast board helicopter from Simikot and fly to Hilsa which is 20 minutes flight. On arrival, pick – up at Shera border and walk for 10 minutes and cross border, enter Tibet and meet our crew. Take a 30 minutes drive to Taklakot (3900m), overnight stay at guest house. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

Helicopter that can carry only 5 persons + 10 kg luggage at a time. Since, helicopter has limited capacity to carry, we request you not to carry any unnecessary baggage. We use two helicopters at a time, so we can airlift our group members to Hilsa as soon as possible.

Day4

Drive from Taklakot to Lake Mansarovar (4500m) – 11/2hours drive

After breakfast, drive 105kms i.e.1/1/2 hours drive to Mansarovar Lake (4500m). On arrival you will have the first glimpse/darshan of the Holy Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The entire circumference of the lake is about 102kms. It is so peaceful and serene around making it the best place for meditation. Also, opposite to Mansarovar Lake is Rakshatal – The lake represents ‘Rakshas’ the devil forced where Ravana, had performed a penance to Lord Shiva for 5000 years. It is believed that one should not touch the water of Raksha Tal as it is considered inauspicious.

Have a rest day and day in leisure for puja, havan and holy bath at the lake. Overnight stay at lodge on the shore of Lake Mansarovar. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

The expected temperature during day time -22 to 32 degree and during night – Upto -3 to -4 degree celsius.

Taklakot to mansarover Distance is 105 km and it takes 11/2 hr

Day5

Drive from Lake Mansarovar to Darchen (4560m) – 01hrs drive

Holy Dip in Mansarover Lake, breakfast, drive 30kms to reach Darchen (4560m), which is the base camp of Mt. Kailash. Rest day for acclimatization to higher altitude and preparation for Kora/Parikarma with porters, Pony and Logistics Overnight stay at new guest house.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

Day6

Darchen to Dirapuk (4750m) via Yama Dwar (Outer Kora – Day 1) – 30 minutes drive & 4 – 5 hours of trek

This is the day to begin your Kora/Parikarma. After breakfast, take a drive of 07kms for 30 minutes to reach YamaDwar. It is necessary to pass through YamaDwar to visit Holy Mt. Kailash. Here those yatris who are not willing to go for the prikrama would return to Dirapuk and others would start the Trek to Dirapuk (4750m) which is a 4 – 5 hours of trek for 12kms on unusual altitude. Overnight stay at guest house. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

The expected temperature during day time – 12 to 18 degree and during night – Upto -5 to -8 degree celsius.

Important we would take a short stopover before commencing the Parikrama from Darchan to obtain the Entry permit to the restricted region from the local police and army officials.

Darchan to Yuma dwar is 7km and drive time is 30min

Day7

Darchen to Dirapuk (4750m) via Yama Dwar (Outer Kora – Day 1) – 30 minutes drive 4 – 5 hours of trek

After breakfast, trek to Zuthulpuk via Dolma La Pass (5600m). The most difficult passage of Kora/Parikarma which leads to a difficult journey as we have to trek upto 18600 ft. with unpredictable weather. So it is advisable to start the trek early morning and keep food and baggage light.

We will trek for 7 – 8 hours about 20 – 22km and on route we will have a sight of Gaurikund (5630m). Arrive at Zuthulpuk (4850m) and rest overnight at guest house. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

The expected temperature during day time -14 to 22 degree and during night – Upto -3 to – 5 degree Celsius.

Day8

Zuthulpuk to Taklakot via Holy Lake Mansarovar (End of Kora) – 03 – 4 hours of trek

Today we will complete the holiest journey of our life – Parikarma of Holy Mt. Kailash. After breakfast, trek for 03 – 4 hours till Darchen where our vehicles will be waiting to drive us to Taklakot via Lake Mansarovarparikarma (complete the MansaroverParikrama).

Overnight at guest house for peaceful and soul sleep. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

Day9

Taklakot to Hilsa and fly to Nepalganj via Simikot by Helicopter

After breakfast, drive to Nepal border, Hilsa and fly to Nepalganj via Simikot by helicopter

This is a cushion day, considering any last minute climatic or political insurgence, if any

Day10

Fly back for onward journey with memories of Holy Mt. Kailash

Departure transfer to connect your onward journey. Breakfast included.
Please note, the climatic condition throughout the yatra is mildly windy or windy.

The air route between Nepalganj and Simikot passes over remote mountain region where weather often gets cloudy.

As per the visa rule of the Chinese government, all group members should enter together and exit together. So, until and unless all members do not come to Hilsa, no one can cross the border.

A brief halt in Darchen is done as few travel documents are required from the local police and army officials as well as once should only entry the region in a group.

    We require a valid copy of health certificate of the pilgrims issued by his/her physician mentioning that the pilgrim/traveler is in perfect condition to undertake yatra to Mount Kailash at a height of above 15000 feet and above. Medical certificate is not the responsibility of ours and we do not take any liability of any health issue.     Kailash tour, from Horchu to round / Kora Mansarovar Lake will be transfer local bus use; it is follow local rule and regulation Darchen.

    Kailash Parikrama/Kora/round will be 53 kilometer and must walk/trek from Yamdwar to Chongdo which is 38km, there is no any car/bus and jeep. It is possible hire pony and local porter for 3 days.

    Most of guest house, lodges or mud houses are very basic service during Kailash tour/Yatra

    Age limit for Kailash tour 12-69 year old for Indian passport holder. No need any health certificates from doctor but you should be fit for Kailash and Mansarovar tour.

    Minimum 6 months or more password validity date of travel.

    There is no any Temple of Lord Shiva in Kailash region. We can see the temple of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman called Khojarnath Temple which is 85 km far in the southern side of Lake Mansarovar.

    It is compulsory for those Yatri / tourist who want to round Manasarovar Lake, from Horchu – Darchen – Yamadwar – Darchen – Horchu to use Eco vehicle blue bus which you can get from Nagri Tourism of Bureau.

    The unpredictable weather conditions and other limitations with the flights operating between these sectors mentioned above, sometimes causes short or long delays in onward and/or return journey to/from Kailash Manasarovar, making the situation little tough and we only can wait for our turn to get the flight to next destination.

    Alternatively, there are few privately operated helicopters with capacity of 06 seats and 24 seats who offer their charter services for emergency evacuation and they charge as below:-

    Travel Insurance

    It is strictly advisable and is mandatory to carry a valid Travel Insurance covering medical expenses, emergency evacuation expenses, additional stay and food expenses etc for traveling to Kailash region. Our trips does not include the price of Travel Insurance and it is the sole responsibility of the pilgrim / traveler to ensure that he/she is adequately insured for the full duration of the trip.

    Indian Passport Holders

    Nepal portion –

    Indian national does not require a passport or visa to travel to Nepal. A valid identity card (voter ID card) is acceptable by Nepal Immigration to give permission to Indian nationals for travelling in Nepal. China/Tibet portion – A valid passport, visa and a special permit to visit Kailash region is mandatory for Indian nationals willing to undertake the yatra. Please send a scanned copy of your passport to our Delhi headquarters for obtaining China Visa and Tibet Permit for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

    Foreign Nationals and NRIs

    Nepal portion –

    A valid passport and Visa is mandatory for all foreign nationals and NRIs (Non-resident Indians) to enter Nepal. Nepal immigration offers Visa on Arrival facility at Kathmandu airport against all valid documents and visa fee.

    China/Tibet portion –

    A valid passport, visa and a special permit to visit Kailash region is mandatory for all foreign nationals and NRIs (non-resident Indians) willing to undertake Kailash Yatra. Please send a scanned copy (coloured) of your passport to our Delhi headquarters and also carry a coloured copy of your passport alongwith 2 passport size photographs upon arrival at Kathmandu airport.
